Entrance Police Lines Kapurthala

Police Lines Kapurthala is located on Kanjali road on the outskirts of Kapurthala. It has the vast area of about 63 acres with lot of plantation around. It is hub of variety of activities throughout the day. About 200 families of policemen reside in the complex. Many essential provisions like LPG gas agency, Petrol Pump, Consumer store, canteen, etc. are available at police lines

Parade Ground Police Lines

The Police Lines has a very big Parade ground encircled by 400 mt. track. Various sports activities, parade, training demonstrations, etc. are carried out here. It is also being used as a landing facility for Helicopter

Police Club

As such there was no place for policemen for entertainment or to carry out any family function/get together in the residential area in the Police Lines.

Unarmed combat for police wards

About 40 children of the age group of 5 to 15 years of Police personnel are being trained in Karate in Police lines

The Police club consisting of children park, amusement park, canteen, consumer store and STD-PCO has been inaugurated by Sh. M.S. Bhullar, DGP,Punjabon 14thOct. 2002.

The club provides a place for the children for various activities, a recreation place for policemen and their families, to carry out get together of about 400 guests, etc. Canteen facility provides cheap and hygienic snacks and beverages for the whole day.

Martyr Memorial

During the phase of terrorism many jawans ofPunjabpolice laid down their lives for the cause of nation. It is only due to their sacrifices the complete peace has been brought in the state. We the people of Punjab and especially the policemen ofPunjabsalute them today for their great service to the humanity. Every year the Commemoration day parade is conducted on 21stOctober and wreaths are placed at the memorial in their remembrance. The names of all those policemen who attains martyrdom during the year are read over.

Gurudwara Sahib

People fromPunjabare very religious and they follow the teachings of the great Gurus. Keeping in view the need of policemen and their families Gurudwara andTemplehas been constructed at Police Lines

Motor transport office looks after the fleet of motor vehicles of the district Police. The district has holdings of vehicles i.e. buses and light vehicles including motorcycles. It has a work shop which carries out minor and major repairs including denting-painting and fabrication job.

A well trained Anti-Sabotage team is working with modern apparatus and is equipped with modern security equipments. Their role is very important during the VVIP visits

Tracker dog on job

Dogs have proved very useful in detecting explosive devices and their tremendous olfactory power have made it possible to track down the criminals. The performance of dog squad has been found to be very good. They are also pressed into the service during the VVIP visits.

Tear gas unit is a well equipped which is used for mob control. This unit is equipped with truncheon guns and riot guns with rubber bullets, gas guns, shells, grenades and gas masks. This unit is generally working in riotous situations

The administrative complex supposed to be nerve centre of the district is located just after the entrance. It was inaugurated by Sh. K.P.S. Gill, IPS on 22ndJan 1990. Many important functionaries like Reserve Inspector, Line Officer, Incharge Police Control Room, Cashier, Miscellaneous store keeper, Clothing Head Constable, Armourer, etc. sit here. The supervision of this complex lies with DSP Police Lines or Head Quarter. The administrative complex also has the conference hall for carrying out various meetings.

Provision store provides all essential daily need items to the families residing in the complex. Police club not only provides facilities at door step to the policemen but also is a source of income which is further used for welfare of men.

A Gymnasium equipped with Bench Press, Arm Curl, Ground Pulley, Abdominal Board, Leg Press, Hip laxer, Chin Up, Weight Looser, Twisting Exerciser, Exercising Cycle, Jogger, etc. machine has been established in Police lines Kapurthala. This facility is available for policemen and their families as well. About 50 to 60 visitors are making use of this facility daily. The Gymnasium was inaugurated by Sh. S.K. Sharma, IPS, I.G. Zonal II, Jalandhar on 25thMay 2002.
